Welcome to World History with Mr. Payan!
Hello Students and Parents,
Welcome to another school year here at Santiago High School! I look forward to getting to know each and everyone of you as we explore the history of modern world civilization. This course will begin with the European Renaissance and Reformation (ca. 1300 CE) and will finish up with Global Interdependence and the Digital Age (ca. 1960-Present). So as you can see, we have a lot of ground to cover! This course will cover some extremely crucial flash points in World History and how they have shaped the world as we know it today. It is my belief that each and every one of my students can succeed in this course, and I will do everything in my power to present the material in a relevant and interesting way.
History is my passion and I feel truly humbled that I have the opportunity to share my passion with all of you this year. This course will not be easy. We are covering over 700 years of history in one semester, so it is crucial that you are all on board with this course as well. Come to class prepared to work, to learn, and to be challenged to think critically. We are going to be doing a lot of reading and writing in this course, but you are not alone. You will know exactly what is expected of you and you will have ample opportunities to meet or exceed my expectations. I hope you are prepared to learn and ready to succeed in my class. I look forward to meeting you all.
Sincerely,
Mr. Payan
